Ekrukh Lake (Hipparga Lake)
Ekrukh Lake, also known as Hipparga Lake, is a significant water body located northwest of Solapur city in Maharashtra, India. It's actually a combination of Hipparga Lake and the Ekrukh Tank, which was built during British rule by Colonel Fife. The lake is a popular spot for locals, offering fishing and boating opportunities, and is surrounded by picturesque hills. The Ekrukh Tank is notable as the second-largest irrigation project in the Deccan region.
Bhima River Takli (Auj Chinchpur Dam)
The Bhima River, a major tributary of the Krishna River, flows through Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana, originating in the Bhimashankar hills of Pune district. Takli, referring to the Bhima River's course, likely refers to a location or village along the river.
Ujani Reservoir (Ujani Solapur Direct Pipeline)
The Ujani-Solapur Direct Pipeline project aims to supply water directly from the Ujani Reservoir to Solapur city, bypassing the current method of pumping water from the Bhima River and reducing water loss. The project is part of the Smart City initiative for Solapur and involves the construction of dual parallel pipelines and a 60 MLD water treatment plant.
