Maharashtra Public Service Rights Act to provide for extension of service to the Inspector General
2015 has been completed and this year. It has come into force from 28-04-2015. Its objective is to provide easy and timely services to the citizens.
In order to monitor, coordinate, monitor and make recommendations on the provision of the notified services to the citizens as mentioned above, the Maharashtra State Right to Public Services Commission has been constituted under the above Act and the Commission has one Chief Commissioner and six Commissioners. The Commission is headquartered at Nidhavna Administrative Building, Opposite Ministry, Mumbai and six departments are under the jurisdiction of the Commissioners.
In case of non-availability of services to eligible citizens within the stipulated time or if services are denied without any justifiable reason, the concerned persons may appeal to their superiors first and second time and if not resolved, they may appeal to the Commission. The defaulting officer may be fined up to Rs. 5000/- per case.
